Tideborn Empires is a strategy game about managing island colonies and the fleets that connect them. It's the kind of game that lives in the background of your day — you set things in motion, check back later, and adjust. But unlike a lot of these, the actual battles let you make real tactical calls instead of watching numbers collide.

We spent our first days just learning the map economy, which is deep without being cruel. Positioning your fleets matters, weather affects routes, and rival players force you to actually defend. There's a satisfying puzzle in balancing expansion against defense.

It asks for patience, and the early hours are a bit dry. Stick with it past that and the strategy layer opens up nicely.
